HFO-1233zd(E)

Sample packaging form(used with the permission of NRS Corporation)

Currently, fluorine-containing HFC-245fa and HFC-365mfc are used as blowing agents for rigid urethane foam used as insulating material in office buildings, apartment complexes and so on.

But the global warming potential(GWP) of HFC blowing agents is high(245fa: 1,030、365mfc: 794), so producers have been converting to CFC-free blowing agents such as hydrocarbon or water blowing from the standpoint of preventing global warming.

HFO-1233zd(E) has low GWP(GWP = 1), and has insulating properties that are superior to current blowing agents.
In November 2012, Central Glass led the industry by beginning the commercial production of HFO-1233zd(E), and is now marketing this material.
HFO-1233zd(E) has won the merit award in the "17th Ozone Layer Protection and Global Warming Prevention Grand Prize" sponsored by the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun.
